By William J. Gammon, Hatvesville, Ky.
Abbreviations and explanations:
"a", with numerals, means acres; "dau" means daughter; "sis" means sister;
"bro" means brother; "mar" means married.
The first date is that of the making of the will, the second that of the probating. The family, or surname, is omitted when the same is that of the testator, but any mention of heirs, etc., or property not in Jefferson County is given— otherwise all properties and persons were in the said county. Residents of Louisville are so given, if given in the will.
Kentucky was originally part of Fincastle County, Va. In 1790 the area was Kentucky County, Va., and shortly afterwards as Kentucky Territory it had three counties, Jefferson (Louisville, C. H.), Lincoln and Fayette
